About Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the most effective and recommended way to correct misaligned teeth and malocclusion. Both fixed and removable appliances are used for orthodontic treatment. Removable appliances include plates and aligners, while fixed appliances include braces, which can be metal, ceramic, self-ligating, or lingual.

▪️ Fixed Appliances

✔️ Metal Braces
The most commonly used and affordable type of construction. They are attached to the outer surface of the tooth and provide strong and reliable fixation.

✔️ Ceramic Braces
The main advantage is their aesthetic appeal. Unlike metal braces, they mimic the color of the teeth, making them less noticeable.

✔️ Lingual Braces
These are attached to the inner surface of the teeth and are used in relatively mild cases.

✔️ Self-Ligating Braces
Treatment is conducted with light forces during vestibular fixation. The patient requires adjustments every 6-7 weeks, hygiene is simplified, and the treatment duration is reduced by approximately four months.

▪️ Removable Appliances

Apart from braces, orthodontic treatment can be conducted with individual aligners. The advantages of aligners are their invisibility, the ability to remove them as needed, and their comfort. This treatment method requires fewer regular visits to the doctor, and maintaining oral hygiene is significantly easier.

For fast results, aligners must be worn daily for 24 hours, removed only during meals and oral hygiene. Each aligner is replaced every two weeks, and the treatment period lasts from 1 to 2 years. In complex cases, where braces cannot be avoided, a combined method is recommended.

The duration of orthodontic treatment depends on the complexity of the condition and ranges from 6 months to 2 years.
